Governance: genre lock & blocks
Three simple tools give you total creative control over what the room hears.
Where to find itDJ dashboardGovernance panel
Tonight's genres
Pick one or more allowed genres for tonight. Guests searching for out-of-genre tracks are gently steered toward matches. You can still accept off-genre requests — it's a lock, not a wall.
- Applies immediately across every device.
- Resets automatically at end of shift, or you can clear it manually.
Blocked songs
Prevent a specific track from being requested for a period of time.
- Rest of the night — resets automatically at close.
- Custom duration — 30 min, 2 hours, or a specific end time.
You can block from the queue row (shield icon on any request) or from the governance panel.
Blocked guests
Block a guest by their device or email if they're being disruptive. Blocks are per-venue and expire after 24 hours by default.
Heads up
Blocks are non-punitive — no visible label to the guest. They simply can't submit new requests.
Governance and refunds
Blocking a song does not auto-decline requests already in the queue. You still decide each one manually. Declining triggers the normal refund/void flow.
